If you sign up as a taxpayer or business owner, you are considered the Primary Administrator of your tax accounts in myPATH. As the Primary Administrator, you can grant access to other myPATH users to view, file, and/or pay on your behalf. You can also request access to the tax account(s) of another taxpayer or business. During sign up, you will be prompted to select an ID type:
  • Social Security Number - If you have already filed income taxes in Pennsylvania, register using your SSN to access your personal income tax or sole proprietor tax account information.
  • Federal Employer ID - If you are a business owner, CEO, etc., register using your FEIN to manage your business tax account(s).
  • PATH ID - Each taxpayer in the department’s tax system is assigned a unique 10-digit PATH ID. You can register using your PATH ID instead of using an SSN or FEIN. If you are registering to access your Local Taxing Authority (PURTA) account, you must use PATH ID.
  • Revenue ID - Each taxpayer in the department’s legacy tax system was assigned a unique 10-digit ID referred to as the Revenue ID or Business Partment (BP) number.. You can register using your Revenue ID instead of using an SSN or FEIN.
The ID you provide during sign up will determine which tax accounts you will have access to immediately after logging in:
  • If you registered with your SSN you will be able to access your personal income tax account and any other tax accounts associated with your SSN, including business tax accounts for sole proprietors. You can request access to tax accounts that may be associated with your business' FEIN or  other ID, or tax accounts belonging to another taxpayer.
  • If you registered with your business' FEIN, you will be able to access tax accounts associated with your business under that FEIN. You can request access to tax accounts that may be associated with your SSN or other ID, or tax accounts belonging to another taxpayer.
  • You can create separate Primary Administrator logons if you want to manage tax accounts that belong to you, but are associated with different IDs [i.e. business owner wants to manage their personal income taxes under their SSN separately from their business taxes under their FEIN]. You can also request access to tax accounts belonging to another taxpayer
